Annual output of reclaimed copper is 650,000 tons in Qingyuan, Guangdong

Qingyuan, Guangdong, has already processed 650,000 tons of reclaimed copper annually, the city government said.

At the 7th International Forum on Recycled Metals held in Guangzhou, The China Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association presented the plaque of "Reclaimed Copper Capital of China" to Qingyuan, making qingyuan the first and only city in China to receive this title.

The development of reclaimed copper in Qingyuan has a history of more than 20 years, which is mainly concentrated in the area of Longtang town and Shijiao Town in Qingcheng District, and has become a characteristic industrial brand in the city. In recent years, the city has built the China (Qingyuan) Circular Economy Industrial Park and the Qingyuan Renewable Resources Demonstration Base. At present, the city's recycling copper industry has formed a certain scale, qingyuan copper annual processing output of 650,000 tons, in the international metal trading market has a greater influence.

At present, Qingyuan Municipal Party Committee and government have decided to make every effort to build Qingyuan into the national "recycled copper capital" in the new "innovation year" and "environmental protection year", and strive to achieve the total sales amount of 50 billion yuan through three to five years' efforts, so that the recycled copper economy becomes the first pillar industry of Qingyuan.

In the past, due to the lack of necessary standard management measures, there were problems of low comprehensive utilization level and shocking waste of resources. Every year, about 60,000 tons of waste plastics and dielectric materials are generated in the dismantling process. Due to decentralized operation and insufficient technical capacity, they are discarded at will. This alone costs nearly 800 million yuan every year. How to enlarge and strengthen circular economy has been placed on the agenda of Qingyuan municipal government. The idea of Qingyuan people hit it off with the Renewable Resources Office of the National Supply and Marketing Federation, and the two sides decided to jointly build the "China (Qingyuan) Circular economy Demonstration Base". On June 18, 2005, qingyuan Circular Economy Industrial Park was finally born. The project has been approved by the state, with a planned total area of 3,000 mu and an initial development of 700 mu. The total construction investment is about 900 million yuan.

Statistics provided by the Qingcheng district government show that the towns of Shijiao and Longtang have a history of nearly 20 years of dismantling scrap metal, wire, cable and electronic products in a farmer's courtyard. Every year, 1.7 million tons of industrial recycled raw materials such as copper, aluminum, steel, waste plastics and rubber are dismantled, with a total value of about 18 billion yuan. Qingcheng district has become one of the largest waste materials dismantling base in China. The copper quotation of Qingyuan Shijiao has a certain influence on the international market.
